Dog Adoption ProgramAvailable Dogs Adoption Application Veterinary Work Bringing Him Home Dog Links Thank you for your interest in Lucky Ones rescued dogs. Lucky Ones rescues animals mainly from the Southern Maryland Tri-County Animal Shelter (TCAS) - the public pound for Charles, St. Mary's and Calvert Counties. These animals were on their last day and were soon to be euthanized to make room for more animals being dropped off or brought in off the streets. All animals are therefore spayed or neutered before heading off to their new homes in order to help prevent the companion animal overpopulation from becoming even worse.
Available DogsOur dogs are available for adoption almost every Saturday at area Petsmarts.
If you do not see the type of pet you seek, or have any questions, please email luckyonesdogs@yahoo.com. Adoption FeeThe adoption fee for dogs and puppies is normally $150, payable by check or in cash. We cannot handle credit or debit cards at the adoption sites. Occasionally, a higher adoption fee is needed to cover additional veterinary costs incurred on particular animals. All the money goes directly to Lucky Ones, to pay for the veterinary work performed on the rescued animals and to support the Lucky Ones facility and operations. In addition, PetsMart Charities donates $5 to Lucky Ones for every Lucky Ones animal adopted at a PetsMart store. Unless your tax advisor tells you otherwise, you should assume that the adoption fee is not tax deductible. Adoption ApplicationPlease fill out and submit an application at least 24
hours ahead of an adoption fair, so that we will know something about you, your family, and your lifestyle. This will assist us in matching you with one of the rescued dogs awaiting adoption. Your application will be reviewed for preliminary approval and we will call or email you with information about the current pets awaiting adoption.
Veterinary Work Performed on Rescued DogsAll Lucky Ones dogs have been spayed (female) or neutered
(male), provided with basic vaccinations, dewormed and deflead, and have
been tested for heartworm and intestinal parasites. Unless noted
otherwise, they are crate trained. Bringing Your New Dog HomeYour dog or puppy should be introduced to his new home slowly, without the excitement of other pets and children running up to welcome him.
